Kokomo Loses Three Gems: A Tribute to Lives Well-Lived
Written by 98.9 The Bear on July 26, 2025
It’s been a tough week in Kokomo as the community mourns the loss of three cherished individuals. Sharon L. Morkal, 89, passed away, leaving behind a creative legacy of quilting, oil painting, and a multitude of family members who adored her. You definitely wouldn’t want to get on her bad side—after all, she had 35 years of quilting experience to perfect her skills! Sharon was a beacon of light in her church community, fostering connections and joy through her artistic talents.
In addition to Sharon, there’s Scott Noland West, who left us at just 56. Scott was a devoted father and a believer in turning life’s challenges into gratitude, highlighting his adventurous and faith-driven spirit along the way. One can only imagine the stories he could tell about life lessons learned while camping and fishing—probably involving humorous mishaps that left him chuckling by the campfire!
And let’s not forget Robert “Bob” Lee Forsthoffer, who inspired many with his laughter and warm personality right up until his passing at 64. It’s clear that he knew the value of bringing joy into life every single day, backed by the delightful tunes he loved. These three definitely left their mark, not just in Kokomo, but in the hearts of everyone who knew them. What’s more powerful than a life celebrated? Perhaps a legacy of love, laughter, and the occasional quilted blanket!
